Ranch Improvements
by Carolyn Cothran
We are always working on ways to improve our operations at The Ranch. Over the past few months, we have done quite a few things to spruce up the place!
Over the last year, we have taken in more puppies than ever before. Puppies are as cute as they can be, but they are very delicate health wise. Parvo and Distemper loom over their heads for many weeks until they are fully vaccinated. Parvo is spread by flies, so we have screened in several of our kennels, to try to protect the environment.
Another improvement we have made is the lighting in our casita. Because our vets now come out to us for many procedures, they needed improved lighting where they do their work. We have some pretty handy staff members and they installed the exact lighting we needed!
We have increased some of our security measures that we can’t really talk about, but be sure that our dogs and our other valuables are more protected from vandals. We had a few incidents recently.
Future projects include better walls between a couple of kennels and our play yards, a better water system and a few other things. We will keep you posted.
We couldn’t have done these very important things without your help! The dogs, the staff, and the volunteers are certainly grateful!
