A One in a Million Dog
By Syd Sullins
Oh our Maximillion - he really is one in a million. He was brought to us about six months ago when his family moved off without him. The neighbors loved Max and they wanted to make sure he was safe.
Max looks a little different than most dogs. His head is too small for his body, his jaw twitches and he can't keep his tongue in his mouth - all characteristcs of distemper survivors. But what distemper didn't affect was his ability to love. He would stand at the gate of his run, with his tongue hanging out, just hoping anyone who walked by would come on into his run and give him some love in exchange for his sloppy kisses. He loved his outings on leash with our volunteers but we felt that Max really needed and deserved a home of his own.
We talked with Street Dog Hero to see if they thought they'd be able to find an adopter for him. They asked for photos and bios and started publishing this wonderful dog looking for an adopter. And sure enough, he flew to Portland the middle of July and is already enjoying his new family. We all hope they realize just how special our Maximillion is - I'm pretty sure he'll make sure they fall head over heels in love with him.
