Lily & Paloma BFF
By Julie Wittman
I came down to Ajijic in October, 2019 for 3 weeks to do my final "walk around" before my big move the following spring. I went out to The Ranch to volunteer and I fell in love. Paloma had just been brought back from being spayed and having been picked up outside of San Nicholas. Every time I walked past her run, she would grab my attention. I wondered did it make sense to adopt her, take her back to the states for 5 months and move her back down? There was something special about her and that's exactly what happened. Paloma settled in quickly with Maggie, my 18-yr old cat of my mom's.
When my mother and I finally moved down here the following March, we fostered two Ranch pups for 4 months, one of them was Naya, now named Lily. I could tell Paloma was missing canine company so I started keeping more of an adoptive eye open at The Ranch and in the area.
I noticed Lily was always calm in the run, gentle, good on walks, and very good with other dogs and the puppies that were in her run. She was the right size and she too always caught my eye in a special way. So I brought her home in December of 2020. Lily and Paloma were best buds from the very start, they play like crazy and always by each other's side.
