It Takes a Village

I want to send a big thanks to everyone involved in rescuing our young golden retriever. Bill, my husband, called him, Golden, so I will too. Lori found him and knew from experience that he was no street dog. She knew he was either lost or more likely dumped.

Lori met Bill walking our dogs and told him she found a dog she couldn't keep because of her lack of a yard. Bill told her that I volunteered at The Ranch. We thought we could take him to The Ranch the following day but little did we know The Ranch was full and not able to accept another dog at that time.

Bill brought Golden home and in the evening light I thought he was a yellow lab mix. When I saw him in the morning, I changed that to golden retriever mix.

When I told Syd, she contacted Dee Mistrick who has contacts with a Golden Retriever Rescue. They came to see Golden and Dee recognized that he looked more like a young purebred than a mix. I had seen the head, ear set and beautiful coat color, but she knew he would fill out and his longer coat would come in when he is older.

Golden is going to Golden Retriever Rescue in Phoenix where he will receive much needed training and then find a forever home. Our dog, Mono, will be able to go in the back yard again because she decided Golden was just too big and playful to be trusted.

Last but not least, a big thank you to Saint Frank who I have asked for help too many times over the years when working with rescue dogs. This wouldn't have all come together without all of you.
