Ears to Getting a Family

Late in October, we launched our sponsorship program. For a monthly donation, supporters can choose a dog who is living with us at The Ranch. The donation goes toward the care and feeding of a particular dog. This program has been quite successful.

Along with helping to support these dogs, statistics show that dogs who are sponsored have greater exposure and are more often adopted. While I have always heard that was true, I never completely believed this. ….and then came Carnita.

Carnita is a beautiful black lab mix puppy with the most spectacular ears! She was being sponsored by a generous supporter. Our fabulous administrator of the program, Cindy Peters-Zeier, posted about Carnita’s sponsorship with one of Bruce Dugdale’s amazing photos.

About 24 hours later, we received a call from a wonderful woman who was totally drawn in by Carnita’s beautiful ears and reached out to us expressing interest in adopting her. She came out with her partner and two beloved dogs for a meet and greet. All went swimmingly. Carnita could not have behaved better if she had been coached. Kisses were given around. The two existing dogs loved their new sister. Off they went into the sunset.
